Apple Resumes Negotiations with OpenAI for Generative AI on iPhone
Apple has resumed discussions with OpenAI, the developer of the generative artificial intelligence (AI) ChatGPT, for some new features to be included in the iPhone later this year.
On the 26th (local time), Bloomberg News reported, citing anonymous sources, that Apple and OpenAI have begun talks on the terms of an agreement regarding how to integrate OpenAI's capabilities into the next iPhone operating system, iOS 18.
The two companies had also held consultations on this earlier this year, but there was no significant progress afterward. This time, the dialogue between the two parties has reopened.
Separately, Apple is also in talks about incorporating Google's generative AI, Gemini. Apple has not yet made a final decision on which company's AI to use.
