Prosecution Appeals First Trial Verdict on Jeon Cheong-jo's Father... "Fraud Damage Not Recovered"
On the 26th, the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office announced that it has filed an appeal against Mr. A, the father of Jeon Cheong-jo, who was sentenced to prison in the first trial for a 1.6 billion won investment fraud.
The prosecution stated, "The scale of the damage is very large, and all the embezzled money was spent on gambling, making the case very serious. More than five years have passed since the crime, and the fraud damage has not been recovered at all," adding, "We judged that it is necessary to impose a heavier punishment than the first trial sentence of 5 years and 6 months in prison."
Mr. A was charged with embezzling a total of 1.61 billion won in six installments between February and June 2018 from a victim he met while mediating a real estate sales contract, as well as stealing a mobile phone during his escape period. He was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison in the first trial held on the 22nd.
