Not a Marathon, but a 4-Hour 30-Minute Plank... 58-Year-Old Canadian Woman Sets New Record
Guinness World Record Broken
6 Hours Plank Exercise in 1 Day
A 58-year-old Canadian woman has broken the longest plank hold record. The Guinness World Records announced that Canadian woman Dona Jang Wild (58) held a plank position for 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds, setting a new record for the longest female plank hold. This is about 10 minutes longer than the previous record.

View original imageThe plank is an exercise where you support your body with your elbows on the floor and hold your body up in a prone position. Core muscle strength, including the abdominal muscles, is crucial, and most people can only hold it for 30 seconds to 1 minute. This record was measured under the supervision of an official Guinness adjudicator.
After completing the challenge, Dona said, "My elbows hurt quite a bit," but also shared, "I was worried about losing my form. I think my thigh muscles hurt from the tension." She added, "The first two hours felt like they passed quickly, but the following two hours were much harder," and "The last hour was the most difficult, as I had to concentrate and maintain my posture."
Dona reportedly started planking seriously about 12 years ago. At that time, she suffered a wrist fracture, so instead of strength training or running, she decided to do planks for up to 3 hours daily. She reached a level where she could enjoy her daily life while holding the plank position, such as watching movies or reading books.

Especially before the Guinness World Record attempt, she practiced 'special training' by doing planks twice a day, totaling 6 hours. Regarding this, Dona said, "Since I realized I could read books while planking, I have always done it that way."
