Trump "Abolish Electric Vehicle Subsidies on First Day of Term"
Former U.S. President Donald Trump said at a campaign rally on the 2nd (local time) that he "promises to sign an order to repeal electric vehicle (subsidy) support on the first day of his term."
At the rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Trump said, "I want us to use more gasoline because we have more gasoline than any other country in the world," expressing his confusion over why the government gives huge subsidies for electric vehicles that people do not even want.
Former President Trump gave significant attention to the electric vehicle issue at the Michigan rally. Michigan once prospered due to the automotive industry, but American car companies headquartered there have declined as they have been outpaced by foreign companies. Workers who have made internal combustion engine vehicles are particularly concerned about losing jobs if electric vehicles are mass-produced. Additionally, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which includes provisions for electric vehicle subsidies, is one of President Joe Biden's signature legislative achievements.
Trump pointed out that China is trying to avoid tariffs by building factories in Mexico to produce cars and export them to the U.S. He said, "Michigan and the United Auto Workers (UAW) will be completely ruined."
He also criticized President Biden's border policy, claiming that illegal immigrants are ruining the country, raising his voice with phrases like "Joe Biden's border bloodbath" and "Biden's immigrant crime."
He cited cases of women killed by illegal immigrants, including 25-year-old Ruby Garcia from Michigan, criticizing, "They (illegal immigrants) are not human. They are beasts."
He added that during his administration, no one talked about nuclear weapons, but now Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un are bringing up nuclear weapons again, claiming, "Because of this madman (Biden), we could be fighting World War III."
