"Parking Villain Punishment"... Democratic Party Announces 2040 Targeted Pledge
Democratic Party Member Oh Chang-seok Announces at Party Headquarters
Includes Paid Leave for Infertile Couples, Crackdown on Illegal Ticket Sales, and More
The Democratic Party of Korea announced a ‘Taste-Targeted Pledge’ that includes stronger penalties for parking villains who occupy two parking spaces, a significant expansion of rapid charging facilities for electric vehicles at highway rest stops, and amendments to the law on game addiction. These contents, which were raised as necessary on online communities, were announced as pledges after proposals from party members and preliminary reviews by the policy committee.
Party member Oh Chang-seok announced the Taste-Targeted Pledge aimed at the 20s, 30s, and 40s generations at the Democratic Party headquarters on the 2nd. Oh said, "I proposed pledges that could be considered big or small depending on perspective, reflecting the hearts of party members, and the party adopted them and gave me the opportunity to explain them today," revealing pledges that had been discussed mainly on online communities.
First, the pledge includes a bill establishing legal grounds for cracking down on illegal parking against so-called parking villains, such as ultra-luxury foreign cars occupying two parking spaces or parking in compact car spaces. A proposal was also made to establish legal grounds for significantly expanding paid leave systems for couples undergoing infertility treatment.
Additionally, the Taste-Targeted Pledge includes game-related pledges such as a significant expansion of rapid charging facilities for electric vehicles at highway rest stops, amendments to the Statistics Act to exclude games from being classified as diseases, support for building dedicated platforms for indie games, and regulation of game promotions. Oh said, "Games should neither be classified as diseases nor be disparaged, and the Democratic Party should do its best to create a user-centered gaming world."
