The Times, citing multiple sources, stated that Prince Harry and his wife found out about the Princess of Wales's cancer diagnosis through television. Upon hearing the news, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle contacted Prince William and his wife. The media reported, "It is understood that they reached out after learning that Middleton had been diagnosed with cancer and had begun preventive chemotherapy." Following the contact, Prince Harry and his wife issued a statement saying, "We wish Kate and the family health and healing, and hope they can find peace."
It is known that the contact between Prince Harry and Prince William occurred after several months. The Telegraph speculated that this event might lead to a reconciliation between Prince Harry and Prince William. After years of discord with the royal family following their marriage, Prince Harry and his wife officially separated from the royal family in 2020 and have since revealed detailed accounts of family conflicts through the Oprah Winfrey interview, Netflix documentaries, and the memoir "Spare." In particular, Meghan Markle, an American of mixed Black heritage, claimed in the Oprah Winfrey interview that "the royal family expressed concerns about the skin color of my son," sparking allegations of racism. Prince William strongly denied these claims, stating, "We are not racist."
Additionally, Prince Harry was seated two rows behind Prince William during the coronation of King Charles III in May last year. He visited the UK in February upon hearing of King Charles III's cancer diagnosis and met his father for about 30 minutes but did not meet his brother before returning to the United States. Prince Harry is scheduled to visit the UK again in May for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded veterans that he founded in 2014.
