KB Financial Group Appoints Kwon Seon-ju as Board Chair... First Female Chairperson
On the 22nd, KB Financial Group held a board meeting and announced the appointment of Kwon Seon-ju as the chairperson of the board of directors. She is the first female chairperson since the establishment of KB Financial Group.
Chairperson Kwon Seon-ju previously served as the first female president of IBK Industrial Bank of Korea and is currently the president of the Korea chapter of the International Women Directors Association.
Since last year, KB Financial has been the first domestic financial holding company to have three female outside directors join the board. Among the seven outside directors at KB Financial Group, 42.8% are women. A KB Financial official stated, "The appointment of a female chairperson is expected to greatly contribute to the advancement of KB Financial's governance structure and the expansion of diversity within the board."

Meanwhile, at today's shareholders' meeting, three existing outside directors?Kwon Seon-ju, Oh Kyu-taek, and Choi Jae-hong?were reappointed as outside directors. The new outside director appointed is Lee Myung-hwal, senior research fellow at the Korea Institute of Finance and head of the Center for Overseas Financial Cooperation.
