Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it has established a detailed 2024 job policy implementation plan as a roadmap to promote sustainable quality job creation projects tailored to local conditions and industrial structure.
The main policy directions of this job plan are ▲“Establishing a Smart Innovative Economy Foundation” by expanding the future cultural convergence industrial complex through the fusion of traditional manufacturing and ICT new industries ▲“Creating Jobs Realizing Social Value” to build a sustainable social economy ecosystem ▲“Promoting Youth Employment and Startups” to expand customized youth jobs by beneficiary ▲“Customized Job Support by Target” to provide tailored job support considering the characteristics of each group. Accordingly, strategic tasks and detailed projects will be intensively promoted.
Last year, Seongdong-gu created 11,473 jobs, which is 136.6% of the set target, and won the Job Award for nine consecutive years in the job disclosure system evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor among 243 local governments nationwide.
This year, the goal is to create 8,600 win-win and customized jobs by implementing 166 practical projects. To this end, a record-high budget of about 78 billion won, an increase of 9.1 billion won compared to the previous year, will be invested.
First, support for knowledge industry center tenant companies and startups, which are increasing mainly in Seongsu-dong, will be strengthened, and mid- to long-term development strategy projects to design Seongdong’s future, such as promoting the creation of a new administrative town and business town in the Wangsimni area, will be intensively pursued.
Currently, acceleration is underway for the expansion and revitalization of the Seongsu IT/Design Convergence Industry and Distribution Development Promotion District, and a comprehensive development plan for the Seoul Forest area will be established to develop the entire Seongsu area into a global future convergence industrial complex representing Seoul.
In addition, customized support projects for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners, such as expanding SME development fund loans and market support, will be expanded. The fashion sewing industry and handmade shoe industry, which are regionally specialized manufacturing industries, will be advanced to foster them as sustainable industries that can proactively respond to domestic and international manufacturing environment changes.
Furthermore, Seongdong-gu, as the largest cluster of social ventures nationwide, plans to promote various projects to strengthen the self-reliance capabilities of social ventures that simultaneously create social value and economic performance.
Social venture incubating projects for sustainable social ecosystems will be promoted, including customized consulting support by growth stage of social venture companies, support for office space and infrastructure through operation of the Social Venture Hub Center, scale-up programs to strengthen private investment capabilities, and hosting the nationwide social venture festival “Seoul Forest Social Venture Expo.”
Also, through the operation of social venture funds No. 1 and 2 totaling 5 billion won and social economy activation funds linked with social financial institutions, the growth of excellent social economy enterprises will be driven.
Various projects to create quality youth jobs will also be intensively promoted. These include the “Youth Challenge Support Project” to support socially isolated and withdrawn youth taking their first steps in social activities, operation of two specialized youth centers for independence and employment roles, creation of “Youth Startup Spaces” equipped with one-stop youth startup infrastructure, the “Campus Town Development Project” in cooperation with local universities to nurture regionally customized talent, and the “Hive Project.” Through these youth employment and startup projects by target, a comprehensive support system for youth beneficiaries will be established without gaps.
In addition, customized job projects for seniors, middle-aged people, women with career experience, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable employment groups will be thoroughly promoted to expand inclusive job projects so that no one is left out and everyone can have stable jobs and employment opportunities.
