Gyeonggawon to Invest 4 Billion KRW in AI Support Projects This Year, Doubling Last Year's Amount
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency will expand its budget for artificial intelligence (AI) related projects to 4 billion KRW this year. This amount is nearly double compared to last year (2.1 billion KRW).
On the 20th, the agency announced that the AI demonstration support project for the public and private sectors will be conducted in March, and the AI talent training program will be held in April.
The public sector AI demonstration support project will provide a budget of 300 million KRW per project to cities, counties, and affiliated institutions within the province for AI-based solution demonstrations aimed at solving social issues such as transportation, environment, and safety.

The AI talent training support project offers practical education using training courses from global big tech companies such as Amazon, Google, and Naver to unemployed youth and those seeking reemployment (under 39 years old) within the province. The goal is to train 60 AI specialists.
Additionally, AI literacy education will be conducted by four universities located in the province as lead institutions, providing basic AI utilization education and AI ethics education tailored to each university's characteristics. Two universities from the northern region and two from the southern region will participate as a consortium. A budget of 600 million KRW will be provided per consortium.

Kang Seong-cheon, president of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, stated, "This year, for the first time, we are issuing an integrated announcement for AI support projects, which is expected to make it easier for cities, counties, small startups, and residents wishing to promote AI projects to check and participate." He added, "We will do our best to expand the application of AI technology within the province, solve social problems through it, and create economic value."
