Gwangsan Fire Station in Gwangju Urges Precautions to Prevent 'Careless Fires' in Spring
Gwangsan Fire Station in Gwangju Metropolitan City urged compliance with prevention rules on the 18th to reduce fire damage caused by carelessness during the spring season.
According to Gwangsan Fire Station, over the past five years (2019?2023), the highest number of seasonal fires occurred in spring, totaling 1,119 cases.
The cause of fires was found to be carelessness in 665 cases (58.9%), accounting for more than half of the fire causes, followed by electrical factors with 204 cases (18%) and mechanical factors with 29 cases (10%).
To prevent fires caused by carelessness, it is necessary to ▲ completely extinguish cigarette butts and dispose of them in a safe place ▲ not leave food unattended while cooking ▲ refrain from burning garbage or crop fields and ridges.
