Sejong Institute of Science and Technology Holds Seminar on Outstanding Faculty Startup Cases

View original imageAt the keynote speech on the 23rd of last month, Ju Myung-geon, Honorary Chairman of Sejong University, stated, “The reason the United States has been able to maintain its position in the 21st century is due to advanced technology companies based on various venture companies in Silicon Valley that have maintained technological superiority.” He added, “If we unite passion, determination, and a creative spirit, Sejong University can become a research-oriented university that leads and drives the world’s scientific civilization.”
Professor Hwang Bo-hyun of the Department of Electronic Information and Communication Engineering at Sejong University gave a presentation titled ‘Status of Faculty and Student Startups.’ Professor Hwang introduced excellent student startup cases such as Disabled, an agency for artists with developmental disabilities, and SelfinLab, which specializes in affordable interior construction services.
Professor Kim Tae-wan of the Department of Nano New Materials Engineering at Sejong University presented on the startup company ‘Nanogate.’ Professor Kim explained that “the semiconductor-based Hall sensors, which are the most widely used magnetic sensors detecting linear and angular motion of objects across various fields, are mostly products of foreign companies dominating both domestic and international markets.”
Professor Kim Tae-geun of the Department of Electronic Information and Communication Engineering at Sejong University explained the startup company ‘Cubixel.’ He proposed a postmodern industry-academia research approach that is non-sequential ‘on-site & on time,’ utilizing a structure of constant mutual communication and interaction to integrate culture, technology, and industry-academia-research collaboration.

Professor Park Woo-chan of the Department of Computer Engineering at Sejong University gave a presentation on the startup company ‘Exarion.’ Exarion is a business that develops ‘Sound-Tracing hardware (HW) and software (SW)’ for immersive 3D audio, focusing on 3D audio and video AI semiconductor technology for photorealistic metaverse, and designs and applies AI semiconductors for high-resolution video and audio processing.
