KOTRA Hosts 'GMEP 2024'... 320 Domestic Companies Participate
Buyers from 143 Companies in 40 Countries Gather
18 Export Contracts Worth 10 Million USD Signed On Site
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA announced on the 13th that they will hold the "2024 Global Medical Device Export Consultation (hereinafter GMEP 2024)" in conjunction with the "International Medical Devices and Hospital Equipment Exhibition (KIMES 2024)" at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 14th and 15th.

View original imageThe consultation will involve 143 promising buyers from the medical device sector across 40 countries worldwide and over 320 domestic companies. A total of approximately 1,800 export consultations are expected to take place. On-site, 18 export contracts worth a total of ten million dollars will be signed across various items including robotic surgical devices and imaging diagnostic equipment.
In collaboration with the Pan-Government Medical Device R&D Project Group, an 'Innovative Medical Device Company Showcase' will be set up at the consultation venue to present our advanced medical technologies and digital healthcare technologies to buyers. The showcase will feature products and technologies from innovative companies selected for R&D support projects by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, including AI-based diagnostic devices and digital healthcare commercialization.
Jung Wooyoung, Head of KOTRA’s Innovation Growth Division, stated, "Opportunities for growth in the domestic medical device industry are expanding further due to digital transformation and demographic changes in the global market. KOTRA will actively support finding future growth engines by expanding export opportunities for domestically produced medical devices."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA will support export performance by promoting various support projects such as follow-up consultations and delegations using overseas trade offices for domestic companies participating in this export consultation. Additionally, through seven newly launched 'K-Bio Desks' this year, on-site support will be strengthened in areas such as overseas certification and regulation, customs clearance, and export marketing in the biohealth sector.
