Wando-gun to Receive Nominations for Citizen Awards and Honorary Candidates

Wando County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) is accepting nominations for the ‘Wando County Resident Award’ and ‘Honorary Resident’ until the 12th of next month.

On the 12th, the county announced that it annually discovers individuals who have contributed to the development of the local community and the welfare of residents or have gained fame, in order to boost residents' pride.

The nomination categories for the ‘Wando County Resident Award’ include education and culture/sports, social welfare and environment, industrial economy, and local defense order and security.

The ‘Honorary Resident’ nominations are for those who have contributed to the development of county administration and enhancement of the county’s status in fields such as culture, arts, education, sports, economy, and science, or who are recognized for their contributions to resident unity.

Nominations can be made by the county council chairman, heads of institutions and organizations, town and township chiefs, or individuals; in the case of individuals, a recommendation with signatures from more than 30 household heads is required.

To nominate, submit the nomination form, record of achievements, and related documents in person to the town or township office of the nominee’s address or to the Administrative Support Division of the county office.

The county plans to select awardees through a screening committee in May, and award recipients will be presented with the Wando County Resident Award and Honorary Resident certificates at the ‘53rd Wando County Residents’ Day’ commemorative event held on May 31.
