Gwangju National Science Museum to Operate Nighttime Astronomy Observation Program in March
The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on the 7th that it will operate the Starlight School night sky observation program and the Night Sky Observation Log.
Starlight School is an educational program for citizens interested in astronomy and space, and it will be held on the 20th of this month.Participants can take a space journey in the planetarium, find constellations, and observe various celestial bodies such as the Moon and Jupiter through a large telescope with a 1.2m reflecting mirror.
The Night Sky Observation Log is a telescope experience education program where participants learn about astronomical telescopes and use them directly, scheduled for the 21st of this month. Participants can set up the telescope themselves, freely operate it, and observe celestial bodies.
Additionally, participants can use their own mobile phones to photograph celestial bodies and print their own astrophotographs as souvenirs.
In this night sky observation program, participants can observe the Moon's craters and the beautifully striped Jupiter, as well as the Orion Nebula, a representative emission nebula.
If weather conditions on the day of the program make celestial observation difficult, alternative programs such as making miniature telescopes and indoor observation experiences within the exhibition hall will be provided.
