Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Status Survey' on 7,216 Buildings to Designate 3 Types of Facilities
Gyeonggi Province will conduct a field survey this year targeting 7,216 small-scale facilities to designate Type 3 facilities.
On the 6th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will conduct a field survey on Type 3 facilities, which are smaller in scale compared to Type 1 and Type 2 facilities that undergo regular safety inspections, performance evaluations, and detailed safety inspections, but have a high risk of disaster occurrence or are designated for prevention purposes.
Type 3 facilities refer to bridges with lengths between 20 meters and less than 100 meters, and apartments with 5 to 15 floors, among others.
Once designated as a Type 3 facility, there is an obligation to conduct regular inspections. This is in response to concerns that, compared to Type 1 and Type 2 facilities of a certain scale or larger, smaller facilities have become blind spots in safety management.
Gyeonggi Province selects targets among facilities that have been completed for 10 to 15 years or more each year, conducts field surveys, and then decides whether to designate them as Type 3 facilities. Last year, a total of 6,496 facilities were surveyed, and 387 facilities were designated as Type 3 facilities.
