Ibrof Kani Bakitbekovich, Vice Chairman of the Geological Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, stated that Kazakhstan’s proposal for joint mineral development at the government level was first made to Korea. In response, KIGAM has been conducting a joint geological survey since May last year on one of these sites, the 1.6 km² pegmatite (feldspar) deposit area in Bakeno, eastern Kazakhstan, containing lithium-bearing 'Lithium-Cesium-Tantalum (LCT) pegmatite.'
Heo Cheol-ho, Head of the Mineral Resources Research Division at KIGAM, said, "We have signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with a domestic company and are sharing data. If the mine site is judged to be promising, we plan to establish a joint venture company to proceed with full-scale development."
