Promotion of Joint Establishment and Operation of 'United College and Graduate School'
On the 5th, Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-su) and Korea Maritime and Ocean University (President Ryu Dong-geun) held a business agreement ceremony at the headquarters of Korea Maritime and Ocean University and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to conceive a joint model between the two universities.

View original imageThis is the first official event between the two universities since submitting a preliminary joint application for the Glocal University 30 project.
The two universities agreed to cooperate in leading an innovative university model with global competitiveness by jointly establishing an innovation plan this year to attract the Glocal University project, fostering core talents in the marine and fisheries sector, promoting industry, and contributing to regional development.
In particular, Pukyong National University and Korea Maritime and Ocean University plan to form and operate a joint promotion committee for the joint implementation of the Glocal University project and proceed with practical procedures.
According to the agreement, the two universities will jointly establish a world-class marine and fisheries specialized ‘Joint College and Graduate School.’ If the plan proceeds as intended, joint management of admissions, curriculum operation, faculty and staff, and resources will become possible.
Additionally, the two universities will collaborate on national projects, research task acquisition, and overseas exchange programs. To maximize synergy in specialized fields, they also plan to jointly operate project groups and research institutes.

Through this agreement, the two universities are expected to present a global development model for specialized universities in Korea by contributing to mutual growth, nurturing core talents in the marine and fisheries sector, advancing marine cutting-edge science and technology research and development, and promoting the marine industry.
