Lee Jae-myung Supports 'Roh's Son-in-law'... "Let's Raise the Cane Against the Yoon Government"
Lee Supports Kwak Sang-won in Jongno, the 'Political Hub'
Despite 'Nomination Turmoil' Noise, Official Start of General Election Campaign
"Advance Despite Strange Rumors... Let's Judge Yoon"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, began his on-site campaign supporting lawyer Kwak Sang-eon, the late President Roh Moo-hyun's son-in-law, despite internal and external noise caused by the 'nomination turmoil.' He placed emphasis on highlighting the 'government judgment theory' in Jongno-gu, Seoul, known as the 'political first district.'
On the afternoon of the 4th, Lee visited the election office of lawyer Kwak, who was confirmed as the candidate for Jongno-gu, Seoul, and stated, "I believe that Kwak candidate will surely realize in Jongno the dreams of the respected late President Roh Moo-hyun?'a world without unfairness and privilege,' 'a world where people live,' and the world of mutual prosperity and great harmony that I dream of." He added, "Although Jongno is considered difficult, it is a place where President Roh's dream remains, and Kwak candidate will succeed him. I believe we can definitely win this general election."

Notably, this schedule was announced just two hours after Im Jong-seok, a 'pro-Moon faction core' who had opposed the decision to exclude him from the nomination in Jung-gu and Seongdong-gu Gap districts of Seoul, effectively expressed his intention to remain in the party. This is seen as a strategic move to emphasize the party's legitimacy and the importance of unity through lawyer Kwak, the late president's son-in-law, while regrouping.
Lee repeatedly emphasized, "Let's unite our strength," and said, "Even though all sorts of strange noises are rampant, we move forward step by step." He also added significance by saying, "I planned to visit the field once the nominations were somewhat finalized, and you will understand the special meaning of choosing Jongno first."
Later, Lee visited Changsin Market with lawyer Kwak and Roh's daughter, Jung Yeon, appealing to voters for support. He addressed the citizens, "Are you ready to judge the ruthless Yoon Seok-youl administration? Let's definitely judge it." He highlighted the 'government judgment theory' by saying, "Please allow us to discipline the Yoon Seok-youl administration, which is indifferent to the economy."
He walked through various parts of the market, including a jokbal (pig's trotters) restaurant, a pharmacy, and a galbi (grilled ribs) restaurant, taking selfies with supporters. When a merchant complained, "This year has been the worst for business," Lee responded, "Reviving the economy is the most important task for politics, but this government has no interest. This time, we must discipline them with a whip to make them realize and pay attention, so they understand the fear of the people."
