Request for Confirmation of Non-Compliance with Work Commencement Orders for 7,854 Individuals
The government has issued work commencement orders to approximately 9,400 residents who submitted resignation letters out of nearly 10,000.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) for the doctors' collective action on the 4th, as of 11 a.m. on the 29th of last month, an inspection of 100 training hospitals found that 8,945 residents (72% of affiliated residents) had left their workplaces. The number of resignation letters submitted was 9,981. The government issued work commencement orders to 9,438 individuals and collected confirmation letters of non-compliance with the work commencement orders from 7,854 individuals.
Although there are some inconveniences in the medical field, the government assesses that the severe and emergency medical care system is being maintained. Park Min-su, the 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, stated at the CDSCH briefing that day, "Admissions and surgeries at tertiary hospitals are decreasing, but these mainly involve patients with mild to moderate conditions. Some patients have been transferred to other general hospitals and are being treated cooperatively," adding, "The number of mild patients visiting emergency rooms has also decreased by about 30%."

Meanwhile, as of the 3rd, the number of medical students applying for leave of absence is 5,387, which is 28.7% of the total enrolled medical students. So far, no permission has been granted for 'allied leave of absence.'
