Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun, Creating a Safe Residential Environment ... Support for Slate Removal and Roof Improvement Costs
Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is promoting the '2024 Slate Disposal Support Project' to minimize health damage to residents caused by asbestos scattering due to the demolition of old slate buildings and to create a safe residential environment.
The asbestos slate roof disposal project has been carried out since 2013 with financial support from the Ministry of Environment. This year, a budget of 830 million KRW has been secured to support the demolition and disposal costs of 205 slate buildings.
The project, which started on the 26th of last month, will accept applications until March 15. Those who wish to participate can apply by visiting the local town or township office in charge of the building's address.
The support targets residential and non-residential buildings such as livestock barns and warehouses that use asbestos slate as roofing or wall materials. Only houses that have had their slate roofs demolished through this project can apply for roof improvement support.
General households will be given priority support for slate demolition and disposal costs within the range of 3.52 million KRW for small-scale houses. Non-residential slate buildings will receive full support for areas up to 200㎡, and small-scale house roof improvements can be supported up to 3 million KRW, with any excess costs subject to self-payment.
Priority support households, such as basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups, will receive full support for slate demolition and disposal costs, and roof improvement project costs will be supported up to a limit of 10 million KRW.
