Yangcheon-gu Supports Nonprofit Civic Activities with 800 Million Won... Assisting 100 Groups Including Quarantine Volunteers
Confirmed Priority Support of 845 Million KRW for 10 Sectors in 1.3 Billion KRW Local Subsidy Public Project This Year
Diverse Projects Including Support for Private Organization Public Activities, School Commute Safety Guidance, and Welfare Promotion for Seniors, Disabled, and Middle-aged
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will support local subsidy projects worth about 1.3 billion KRW this year through a public contest to enhance the transparency of local finances and improve project efficiency by supporting private organizations and others.
From January to February, the district publicly recruited subsidy projects in 10 fields including education, welfare for the elderly, disabled, women, and children. Through this process, comprehensive evaluations were conducted on the projects submitted by 136 organizations based on eligibility, public interest, appropriateness, and social contribution, followed by deliberation by the Local Subsidy Management Committee. As a result, 100 organizations and a first-round support amount of 845 million KRW were confirmed.
For the “Private Organization Public Interest Activity Support Project,” which fosters voluntary activities of local non-profit organizations and promotes public interest projects contributing to residents' welfare based on public-private communication, 170 million KRW will be supported.
The confirmed supported projects include ▲Korean Red Cross Volunteer Corps Yangcheon-gu Council’s “Love-filled Nutritional Bread Sharing” (support for vulnerable groups) ▲Saemaeul Movement Yangcheon-gu Council’s “Village Love Disinfection Volunteer Group” (promotion of residents’ health) ▲Korea Federation for Environmental Movement Yangcheon-gu Council’s “Yangcheon Love National Land Clean-up Activities” (environmental conservation) ▲Korea Freedom Federation Yangcheon-gu Branch’s “Patriotic Taegeukgi Flag Campaign” (national security) ▲Barugesalgi Yangcheon-gu Council’s “Safety Culture Establishment Promotion Campaign” (safety culture).
Projects for socially vulnerable groups will also receive substantial support. To promote active social participation and welfare of the disabled, 236 million KRW will be provided for the “Disabled Group Protection and Fostering Project.”
Additionally, 10 million KRW will be allocated to social adaptation education programs aimed at those vulnerable to educational welfare blind spots to help improve cognitive abilities and facilitate smooth social adaptation.
For the “Elderly Welfare Promotion Support Project” that encourages a vibrant life for seniors, 28 million KRW will be supported. Through fall prevention projects, meal sharing for low-income seniors, operation of a traditional play volunteer group integrating 1st and 3rd generations, presentations at senior centers, and joint activity programs, efforts will be made to enhance seniors’ leisure and social activity foundations.
To help middle-aged and older adults regain confidence and make a fresh start after retirement, 40 million KRW will be provided for the “Employment-linked Vocational Education Program Project,” which connects vocational training to employment in a one-stop manner, and 30 million KRW for the “Second Life Program,” which offers various leadership certification courses.
For stable community settlement of foreign residents, multicultural families, and North Korean defectors living in the area, about 60 million KRW will be supported for social adaptation programs such as “Korean Language Classes,” “One-on-One Mentoring,” “Employment Education,” and “Cultural Exploration.”
To create a pleasant living environment, 20 million KRW will be allocated to the “Living Environment Improvement Project,” which installs insect screens and sinks in the residences of low-income disabled individuals, and 130 million KRW to the “Yangcheon-style Hope Home Repair Project,” which repairs old houses of low-income vulnerable groups and creates home study spaces.
To establish safe school zones free of accidents, 13 million KRW will be supported for the “School Commute Traffic Safety Instructor” project conducted at 30 elementary schools. Additionally, 12 million KRW will be invested in the “School Violence Prevention Project,” newly adding psychological counseling for students and parents suffering psychological difficulties due to school violence to provide broader support.
Meanwhile, the district plans to hold the 2nd Local Subsidy Management Committee meeting to further review projects supporting youth store development and employment education programs, employment support for career-interrupted women, and cultural festival revitalization. The subsidy support scale will be 488 million KRW, prioritizing subsidy recipients who submit innovative project plans with high public interest and social contribution.
