Seongdong-gu Supports Online Voting Costs for Apartment Complexes Including Dong Representative Elections
Accepting Applications for Public Contest Targeting Apartment Complexes with 20+ Households in the Area Until March 29
Supporting Voting Costs for Various Agendas Including Resident Representative Elections, Management Rule Amendments, and Management Method Decisions
Expecting to Prevent Personal Information Misuse, Ensure Voting Convenience and Transparency, and Establish a Healthy Voting Culture
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) is promoting a 2024 apartment online voting support project to ensure fair and transparent election management in multi-family housing and to encourage voluntary resident participation.
As digital living environments become established, demand for online voting, which can be easily conducted via smartphones especially among younger generations, has increased in the apartment election administration sector. To enhance residents' convenience, the district has allocated a budget since last year to support the apartment online voting project.
Through this project, support can be provided for various voting agendas necessary for apartment complex management, such as election of building representatives, establishment and revision of management regulations, and decisions on management methods. Even if multiple voting agendas are requested within one apartment complex, support is available for each agenda.
The support limit per complex is 216,000 KRW, and after review by the Multi-family Housing Support Deliberation Committee, 60% of the voting expenses will be subsidized. However, if the number of applications exceeds the project budget, the number of voting agendas per complex will be limited to one, and selection will be made considering priority support targets.
The eligible applicants are apartment complexes with 20 or more households within the district. Complexes wishing to apply for the project should complete the required documents available on the Seongdong-gu Office website (Administrative Information → Administrative Data Room) and submit them in person or by mail to the Housing Policy Division on the 11th floor of Seongdong-gu Office by March 29.
The district expects this project to eliminate concerns about personal information misuse that may occur during paper voting and resolve inconveniences such as the need for separate opinion collection processes for residents living at different addresses, thereby ensuring convenience and transparency in voting.
Additionally, by combining online voting with paper voting, it is anticipated that voter turnout will increase through appropriate opinion collection methods tailored to the needs of multiple households within apartment complexes, fostering a healthy voting culture.
