Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is expanding support for group liability insurance enrollment that compensates for safety accident damages involving infants and toddlers at daycare centers and childcare staff.
From this year, a special clause to protect the rights and interests of childcare staff has been newly established. In cases where a lawsuit arises from an accident during childcare activities, the staff member involved can receive compensation for criminal defense costs. Before indictment, up to 3 million KRW per person is supported, and after indictment, up to 5 million KRW depending on the level of appeal.
Coverage for infant and toddler injury accidents continues to be supported. In cases of life or bodily harm, full medical expenses are compensated. For aftereffects and disabilities, support is available up to a maximum of 80 million KRW per individual.
Liability for bodily injury and property damage is also covered within certain limits. Bodily injury compensation is up to 500 million KRW per person and 3 billion KRW per accident. Property damage such as loss or destruction of items is supported up to 5 million KRW per accident. In the event of sudden death without reason, the ‘Sudden Death Syndrome’ special clause applies, providing a total compensation of 100 million KRW.
The target includes all 138 daycare centers located in Gwangjin-gu. A total of 4,543 enrolled children can receive support, and newly opened centers are also eligible. The coverage period is one year, from March this year to February next year.
