Changwon Special City Distributes 1,100 Electric Vehicles in First Half of Year ... Achieving Carbon Neutral City
Passenger Cars Subsidy Up to 12.3 Million KRW, Cargo Trucks Subsidy Up to 16.6 Million KRW
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is promoting the ‘Electric Vehicle Private Supply Project’ to reduce fine dust and greenhouse gas emissions, providing purchase subsidies for 800 electric passenger cars and 300 electric cargo vehicles in the first half of the year.
Applications for electric passenger cars will be accepted from the 29th of this month, and for electric cargo vehicles from March 8th through the Integrated Zero-Emission Vehicle Website. According to the Ministry of Environment’s differentiated support plan for electric vehicles, subsidies of up to 12.3 million KRW for electric passenger cars and up to 16.6 million KRW for electric cargo vehicles will be provided.
Applicants for electric vehicle subsidies do not need to visit administrative offices separately, as manufacturers and import sellers will handle the subsidy application and claim procedures on their behalf. Eligibility for subsidy applications includes individuals aged 18 or older, businesses, and corporations who have had a registered address in Changwon for at least three months as of the application date.
Additionally, 10% of the allocated quota will be prioritized for low-income groups and small business owners, and an additional 3.5 million KRW subsidy will be provided for electric taxis on top of the vehicle subsidy. Detailed information on subsidies by vehicle type and eligibility can be found on the Changwon City website, the Integrated Zero-Emission Vehicle Website, or by contacting the Changwon City Climate and Air Quality Division.
