On the 24th (local time), the American golf media Golfweek reported, "Anthony Kim will participate in the LIV Golf Jeddah (total prize money $25 million) as a wildcard." This marks his comeback after 12 years since the 2012 PGA Tour Wells Fargo Championship. The tournament will be held for three days starting March 1 at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia. LIV Golf introduced the wildcard system for the first time this year, opening the door for individuals without a team affiliation to compete in LIV events.
Anthony Kim is a Korean-American. Born in 1985, his Korean name is Kim Hajin. He is a notable figure in the golf world. Starting with his victory at the 2008 PGA Tour Wachovia Championship at age 23, he accumulated three wins including the 2008 AT&T National and the 2010 Shell Houston Open. He represented the United States in the 2008 Ryder Cup and was spotlighted as the ‘next Tiger’ after finishing 3rd at the 2010 Masters. However, after shooting 74 in the first round of the Wells Fargo Championship and withdrawing due to a left arm injury, he disappeared from the scene.
