Mayor Lee: "We Will Continuously Monitor Whether Local Medical Institutions Can Provide Normal Care to Minimize Inconvenience"
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, visited Kyung Hee University Hospital and Samyook Seoul Hospital on the 23rd following the escalation of the health and medical disaster crisis alert from 'caution' to 'serious' due to the strike by resident doctors and other collective actions by physicians. He personally inspected the medical treatment status and emergency medical system, and encouraged the on-site medical staff who are facing difficulties amid the medical service gap.
The mayor stated, "In the situation where a medical service gap has occurred due to the collective withdrawal of resident doctors from medical sites, it is expected that the difficulties faced by essential medical personnel in emergency rooms and operating rooms will be very significant. I would like to express my deep gratitude on behalf of the residents to the medical staff who steadfastly remain on the front lines despite these challenging circumstances."
