Sales of ingredients such as grains have been shown to increase in supermarkets around Jeongwol Daeboreum.
GS Retail, which operates the supermarket GS The Fresh, announced on the 23rd that sales of major ingredients such as grains increased 3.7 times (277%) during the week around Jeongwol Daeboreum (February 1?7), compared to the same period the previous week last year (February 4).

In particular, sales of ▲nuts (423.1%) ▲grains (315%) ▲namul (81.3%) rose significantly, showing a special sales boost for Jeongwol Daeboreum. GS The Fresh analyzed that the traditional customs of Jeongwol Daeboreum?eating five-grain rice and namul side dishes and cracking nuts to wish for health and fortune?have continued until recently, leading to a concentrated increase in demand for related ingredients during this period.
The Jeongwol Daeboreum product trend was influenced by a preference for easy cooking and diversified food culture. For example, demand focused on 'namul sets' that are soaked or blanched rather than fresh namul, and exotic nuts such as cashews and pistachios recorded sales growth rates more than twice as high as common nuts like walnuts.
GS The Fresh is holding a flyer event featuring grains, nuts, and namul from the 24th to the 27th in celebration of Jeongwol Daeboreum. Considering the increased demand, this year’s Jeongwol Daeboreum event volume has been expanded by about 50% compared to last year. The three representative products?800g of Ogokchalbap (five-grain glutinous rice), 450g of Seoritae (black soybeans), and 500g of Chalsusu (glutinous sorghum)?are available for as low as 4,980 KRW each when paid with GS Pay and other methods. Two special Jeongwol Daeboreum products, the 'Osaek Namul Set' (5,980 KRW) consisting of five popular namul varieties and the 'Dalbit Namul Set' (6,980 KRW), have been released.
For nuts, three products?180g of peeled walnuts, 350g of peeled peanuts, and 500g of Buyeo chestnuts?are sold at a uniform price of 5,980 KRW, while five types of Chacha sunflower seeds (250g) and 23 types of HBAF almonds are offered with a 2+1 promotion.
