A Dog Playground Appears on Campus... Dongmyeong University to Open and Pilot 'Dongsup'
Busan City, Nam-gu Office, and Dongmyeong University, Opening Ceremony on the 15th
Pilot Operation from Monday to Saturday Starting March 18
A dog playground has appeared on the university campus.
Dongmyeong University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) has completed the dog playground ‘Dongsup’ and will hold an opening ceremony on the 15th.
On the 14th, Dongmyeong University announced that the complex cultural space ‘Dongsup,’ where people and animals can interact and enjoy leisure together, will begin a pilot operation from March 18.
Dongsup can be found immediately to the right when entering through the main gate of Dongmyeong University in Yongdang-dong, Nam-gu. It covers a total floor area of 1,624㎡ and includes ▲a small dog playground ▲a medium dog playground ▲a bamboo walking path ▲a foot washing station ▲and a resting area for guardians.
Completed last year through the Busan City and Nam-gu Office dog playground support project, Dongsup is scheduled to operate on a trial basis from Monday to Saturday starting March 18.
Friday is designated as ‘Large Dog Day,’ allowing large dogs to use the facility. Usage is free of charge. Nam-gu and Dongmyeong University plan to link pet-related educational programs with the playground facilities.
The Dongsup opening ceremony will be held on the 15th at 11 a.m. on campus. Attendees are expected to include Oh Eun-taek, Mayor of Nam-gu, Busan, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, Dongmyeong University President Jeon Ho-hwan, and Nam-gu honorary animal protection officers.
President Jeon Ho-hwan said, “Dongmyeong University, which has attracted a university hospital-level animal hospital, is pleased to now provide a space where dogs can run freely,” adding, “We will enhance the field experience of students at the nation’s first College of Companion Animals (Dean Kim Su-jin) to become the top university in the companion animal field nationwide.”

Dongmyeong University established and has been operating the nation’s first College of Companion Animals in March last year. The first companion animal university hospital in the Busan-Ulsan region will also be located on the Dongmyeong University campus.
