'Christmas Apartment Fire' 70s Resident on 3rd Floor Where Fire Started Booked
A resident of the unit where the fire first broke out in an apartment fire incident in Dobong-gu, Seoul, has been booked by the police.
The Dobong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 13th that they had booked and investigated a man in his 70s, Mr. A, on charges of arson, gross negligence causing death, and gross negligence causing injury on the 21st of last month.
During the police investigation, Mr. A admitted to smoking but later denied the charges, claiming he put out the cigarette and fell asleep.
Earlier, on December 25th last year, at around 4:57 a.m., a fire broke out on the third floor of an apartment in Banghak-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul. The flames were completely extinguished by around 8:40 a.m., but the fire resulted in the deaths of two residents and injuries to 30 others.

A police official stated, “Considering the suspect’s health condition, we will investigate the specific circumstances of the incident.”
