Agadongsan Loses 300 Million Won Damages Suit Against Netflix Over 'I Am God'
The religious organization 'Agadongsan' lost the first trial in a lawsuit seeking damages against Netflix, claiming harm from the airing of the documentary 'I Am God.'
The Civil Division 25 of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Song Seung-woo) ruled against Agadongsan in the 300 million won damages lawsuit filed against Netflix and others on the 7th. The court did not disclose specific reasons for the judgment in court.
Agadongsan filed a lawsuit last May seeking 300 million won in damages, alleging that episodes 5 and 6 of the Netflix documentary 'I Am God' contained false information about Agadongsan and its leader Kim Gi-soon, causing harm.

Meanwhile, Agadongsan also filed a provisional injunction to ban the broadcast against MBC and Netflix, who were involved in the production of 'I Am God,' but it was dismissed. The court stated, "It appears that Netflix holds exclusive ownership and all rights including copyright to the video in question," and did not accept the injunction.
