Mirae Industry "Expanding Equipment Orders by Business Division in 2024"
Mirae Industry announced on the 7th that it has completed preparations for a new leap forward in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution era as the new year begins, and through its board meeting, shared the current sales status by business sector and future vision, including the recent contract for 16 pieces of equipment ordered from a domestic automotive electronics company.
Last year, the global semiconductor industry was in a slump due to economic uncertainties, and related companies faced difficulties due to an overall reduction in production volume. However, this year, market recovery and expansion are expected through the expansion of the 5G market in the memory sector, mass production of NAND (memory semiconductors) in China, activation of DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) production, and the expansion of domestic HBM (high bandwidth memory) and DDR5 memory mass production.
Mirae Industry anticipates an increase in equipment sales this year with the full-scale operation of logistics factory lines of domestic global customers and the expected expansion of DDR5 DRAM mass production.
Existing Chinese customers plan to continuously increase production this year, and as investments in both existing and new companies expand, new sales to semiconductor post-process related companies are expected, which is projected to increase the company's sales accordingly.
Additionally, cooperation projects related to high-speed testing with tester development companies that have been ongoing are expected to yield visible results starting this year.
One of Mirae Industry's flagship products in the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) sector, the ‘Ihyeong Component Insertion Machine (Miare Auto Insertion, MAI),’ is an unmanned automation device based on advanced technology that automatically assembles electronic components onto PCB (Printed Circuit Board) substrates. Lead-type Ihyeong components, which were previously produced manually, are automatically inspected through three types of vision systems and inserted into the PCB.
Since Ihyeong components have various supply methods depending on the size, weight, shape, and material of the components, Mirae Industry has developed more than 20 types of feeders through years of focused development and investment to respond to these non-standardized systems, and continues to promote customized product development flexibly according to customer demands.
Moreover, various functions developed to prevent production defects such as component supply, mounting defects, non-insertion, component misalignment, component detachment, and collision prevention, as well as production history and traceability management systems developed for customer convenience, are provided as various options.
Mirae Industry aims to realize a perfect unmanned automation system based on excellent technology developed through numerous trials and errors, incorporating diverse customer requirements and feedback.
Through providing these various solutions, Mirae Industry is attracting the attention of the global PCB manufacturing industry.
Starting from 2022, when demand for electric vehicles surged, the company succeeded in selling products to global OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) manufacturers of major electric vehicle parts, and from the end of last year through January 2024, it signed a large-scale product order contract (16 pieces of equipment) with a domestic automotive electronics manufacturer.
In addition, overseas, the company has maintained transactions for seven years with global PCB OEM companies in the electronic product manufacturing sector and announced plans for additional orders in the first half of the year.
Furthermore, to secure price competitiveness and meet the demand volume of global customers in China, the company successfully localized product manufacturing, improved precision, and ensured quality by establishing an additional manufacturing plant at its subsidiary in Suzhou, China last year. This year, aiming to capture the Southeast Asian market, it is promoting the establishment of a new subsidiary in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, targeting March.

A Mirae Industry official stated, “In the 2023 financial statements, sales decreased and operating losses occurred due to reduced facility investments by major domestic and international clients and the semiconductor industry's downturn, as well as inventory asset valuation losses according to accounting policies. However, with the semiconductor industry’s improving trend this year and ongoing product sales negotiations with global customers, we will make every effort to achieve operating profit through new growth.”
