Gyeonggi Province will operate an "Abandoned Animal Rescue and Protection Team" in collaboration with animal protection centers to provide prompt rescue and protection measures for abandoned animals during the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the 7th, Gyeonggi Province announced that from the 9th to the 12th of this month, reports of abandoned animals found within the province can be made through the National Animal Protection Information System (www.animal.go.kr), the duty offices of city and county governments, or the respective animal protection centers of each city and county.
To report, press the "Animal Found" banner on the right side of the National Animal Protection Information System website, then submit the location and type of animal along with photos. The report will be sent via text message to the city or county official in charge, and the rescue team within the animal protection center will be dispatched to carry out rescue and protection measures.
Gyeonggi Province has updated the contact information of abandoned animal rescue personnel in 31 cities and counties and 20 animal protection centers to establish an emergency rescue system.
The province plans to organize general teams, capture and rescue teams, and protection teams at city and county-run animal shelters to maintain a seamless and rapid cooperative system throughout the holiday period.
