Songpa-gu Opens Weekend Farm 'Soli Teotbat' for Lease... Recruiting Urban Farmers
1231 Pyeong and 380 Lots for Sale in Bangidong Area... Online Application for Residents from Feb 7 to 21
Various Convenience Supports Including Providing Fertilizers and Compost, Renting Farming Tools, and Operating 'Beginner Urban Farmer Classes'
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is recruiting prospective farmers who wish to cultivate this year's Songpa-gu eco-friendly weekend farm, 'Soli Garden,' from February 7 to 21 ahead of the upcoming spring.
The district has been operating a weekend farm covering 1,231 pyeong in the Bangi-dong area annually since 2009, allowing urban residents to experience farming life close to home. It is popular among local residents as they can grow healthy ingredients themselves without using pesticides.
In particular, the district has prepared various conveniences to ensure that participants can cultivate their gardens without inconvenience. Comprehensive support is provided, including agricultural water supply, rental of various farming tools, provision of eco-friendly compost twice a year in spring and autumn, and the creation of simple rest areas.
Additionally, the 'Beginner Urban Farmer Class' is operated, where veteran instructors teach seasonal crop cultivation know-how over 14 sessions, from sowing methods to harvesting techniques. Considering the characteristics of the eco-friendly farm, where the use of plastic covers and pesticide spraying are restricted, special care is given to beginner farmers who may face difficulties.
A total of 330 plots are available for general lease, with an annual participation fee of 70,000 KRW per plot (9㎡). The garden can be used until the harvest of autumn crops in December. The locations are 444-17 Bangi-dong (Zone 1) and 445-7 Bangi-dong (Zone 2), and separate vehicle parking is not available.
Any Songpa-gu resident can apply for one plot per household. Applications are accepted online through the district office website from February 7 to 21, followed by a computerized lottery to select general lease cultivators. The lottery results will be announced on the district office website at 4 p.m. on the 23rd.
In addition, special leases are available for 50 people, including persons with disabilities, national merit recipients, and multi-child families. Online applications for 10 people are accepted via the district office website, and 40 people are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by visiting the Economic Promotion Division on the 8th floor of the district office. The participation fee for special leases is 40,000 KRW. For more details, please inquire through the district website or the Songpa-gu Urban Agriculture Support Center.
