Overseas 'Strong Performance', Domestic 'Sluggish'... Hyundai Motor Sells 315,000 Units in January

Hyundai Motor Company recorded sales of over 310,000 units in January this year. Although domestic market sales decreased compared to January last year, the increase in overseas market sales offset this, resulting in a rise in total sales.
On the 1st, Hyundai announced that it sold a total of 315,555 units last month, an increase of 1.8% compared to the same month last year. Domestic sales decreased by 3.3% compared to the same period last year, but overseas sales increased by 2.8%, maintaining an overall upward trend in total sales.
In January 2024, Hyundai Motor Company sold a total of 315,555 units worldwide, including 49,810 units domestically and 265,745 units overseas, representing a 1.8% increase compared to the same month last year.
Domestically, sales were 49,810 units, down 3.3% from January last year. By vehicle type, sedan sales totaled 8,573 units, a sharp decline of 54.6% compared to the same period. Sales by model were 4,438 units of Avante, 3,635 units of Grandeur, and 496 units of Sonata, in that order.
Recreational Vehicles (RVs) totaled 22,255 units, up 38.4% compared to the same month last year. Santa Fe had the highest sales with 8,016 units, followed by Tucson with 5,152 units, Casper with 3,006 units, Kona with 1,976 units, and Palisade with 1,741 units.
Additionally, Porter sold 4,927 units, and Staria sold 2,996 units. Sales of medium and large buses and trucks totaled 1,710 units.
Premium brand Genesis continued its sales growth, with a total of 11,349 units sold, up 35.8% year-on-year and 6.1% month-on-month. The GV80 was the best-selling model with 4,596 units, followed by the G80 with 3,494 units, GV70 with 2,232 units, G90 with 768 units, G70 with 252 units, and GV60 with 7 units.
Overseas sales recorded 265,745 units, a 2.8% increase compared to the same month last year.

A Hyundai official stated, "We will strengthen sales and production systems tailored to local demand and policies to respond flexibly to market changes by region," adding, "We plan to secure leadership in electrification through competitive new model launches and expansion of the electric vehicle lineup, and to pursue profitability-focused business operations."
