The Democratic Party's Effort to Recruit 'Shooting Emperor' Jin Jong-oh as a General Election Talent
"Jin Jong-oh, Has Not Fully Solidified His Intentions Yet"
The People Power Party is pushing to recruit Jin Jong-oh, an Olympic gold medalist famously known as the "Shooting Emperor," who currently serves as a director of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, ahead of the general election.
A representative from the party's Talent Recruitment Committee stated on the 31st, "We have been continuously communicating with Director Jin and have been working on his recruitment," adding, "However, we understand that Director Jin has not yet fully made up his mind." The Talent Recruitment Committee also said in a separate statement, "It is true that Director Jin is on the talent recruitment list," but "no decision has been made yet."
Director Jin is a sports hero who holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by a Korean athlete, with six medals in total?four gold and two silver?tied with Kim Soo-nyung (archery).
Starting with a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics, he went on to win gold medals at the 2008 Beijing, 2012 London, and 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the first shooter in history to achieve three consecutive Olympic gold medals.
