Gyeongbuk Province will provide free vehicle inspections for residents of the new provincial government complex and public officials on February 2nd to ensure safe driving during the Lunar New Year holiday travel.

The free safety inspections will be conducted by Gyeongbuk Province and the Gyeongbuk Automobile Professional Maintenance Business Association at the outdoor parking lot of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office to help travelers safely drive to their hometowns for the Lunar New Year holiday.

About 30 maintenance technicians belonging to the Professional Maintenance Association will participate in this safety inspection, targeting approximately 1,000 vehicles owned by residents of the new provincial government complex and employees of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office.

The main inspection items will be based on a checklist of 13 categories, including battery, oil, tires, and brakes.

In particular, items such as windshield wipers and bulbs that need replacement will be exchanged free of charge, and oils that require replenishment (engine, transmission, brake) will be refilled for free, providing a variety of inspection services.

The Professional Maintenance Association, composed of 1,294 member companies in the Gyeongbuk area (Chairman Im Mu-geun), conducted a ‘Chuseok Free Vehicle Inspection’ in September 2023 in the three cities/counties of Pohang, Gumi, and Gyeongsan, and a ‘Free Vehicle Inspection for Flood Damage Areas’ in July in the four cities/counties of Yeongju, Mungyeong, Yecheon, and Bonghwa.

They have also actively participated in various public interest and volunteer activities, such as delivering consolation funds to victims of Typhoon Hinnamnor in Pohang and wildfire victims in Uljin, and are striving to foster a healthy automobile maintenance culture.

Especially from 2024, to meet the increasing demand for maintenance of eco-friendly vehicles due to technological advancements, they plan to educate and train a total of 300 specialized maintenance personnel over five years at Yeungnam University of Science and Technology.

Choi Young-sook, Director of the Gyeongbuk Province Economic and Industrial Bureau, expressed gratitude for the volunteer activities of the Professional Maintenance Association members and said, “We hope this free safety inspection will help residents drive safely during the Lunar New Year holiday travel, and we will do our best to support the development of the automobile maintenance industry in the province.”
