On the 30th, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon met with a delegation of members of the Aichi Prefectural Assembly at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government office and agreed to activate friendly cooperation, including collaboration in the manufacturing sector and youth exchanges between Gyeonggi Province and Aichi Prefecture.
The delegation, composed of six Liberal Democratic Party members of the Aichi Prefectural Assembly, visited Korea to prepare for the '2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.' On this day, the delegation delivered a letter from the Governor of Aichi Prefecture expressing a desire for cooperation to Governor Kim Dong-yeon.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon said, "I hope that this day will mark the strengthening of the cooperative relationship between Gyeonggi Province and Aichi Prefecture. I believe there are many areas for cooperation in manufacturing and industry with Aichi Prefecture. In particular, I hope to have youth exchanges with Aichi Prefecture. If you designate appropriate partners in the prefecture, our officials will discuss with them," he proposed.
Representing the Aichi Prefectural Assembly delegation, Assemblyman Takanokawa Toshinao (高桑敏直) said, "Aichi Prefecture can be called the manufacturing hub of Japan, home to Toyota’s headquarters. Since Japan has much to learn from Korea in the IT industry, we ask for your support, and we hope many Korean tourists will visit Ghibli Park, which opens in March. Youth exchange is exactly the area we intended to request. We hope to promote youth exchanges with Gyeonggi Province," he responded.
Aichi Prefecture Governor Omura Hideaki (大村秀章) conveyed through the letter delivered by the delegation, "We look forward to more active exchanges between Aichi Prefecture and Gyeonggi Province, and further between Aichi Prefecture and Korea. We hope that this visit will deepen mutual understanding and friendly relations between the two regions."
Since signing a friendship and cooperation agreement with Aichi Prefecture in 2015, Gyeonggi Province has continuously promoted cooperative projects in various fields such as youth, economy, and culture and arts.
In particular, since 2017, youth delegations have been mutually dispatched, and even during the difficult times of face-to-face exchanges due to COVID-19, the two regions connected high schools one-to-one to promote online exchanges, focusing on exchanges for future generations.
Additionally, every November, Gyeonggi Province continuously sends its arts troupe to the 'Korea Festival IN Nagoya' held in Aichi Prefecture to promote the excellence of K-culture and Gyeonggi Province’s arts sector.
