50s Tried Arson with Butane Gas in Apartment Sent to Trial
A man in his 50s who ignited butane gas in an apartment after a conflict with neighbors has been brought to trial.
The Criminal Division 2 of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Jae-hyeok) announced on the 24th that Mr. A, who is charged with attempted arson of a dwelling, was arrested and indicted.
According to the prosecution, Mr. A is accused of attempting arson by placing three portable butane gas canisters and throwing lit newspaper onto them in the common staircase of an apartment in Wolgye-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul, around 6 a.m. on the 9th.
As a result, one butane gas canister exploded, but the damage was limited to soot marks on the common staircase walls and part of the corridor, with no casualties.

Mr. A stated that he committed the act because an acquaintance living in the same apartment, whom he usually knew, had disrespected him.
