Simplified Fire Damage Support Procedures... Receive Assistance Within 2 Days of Application
Temporary Shelter Facilities Expanded from 10 to 20 Units
The National Fire Agency will simplify the application process for this year's fire damage victim support project and double the temporary housing facilities provided to residents.
On the 19th, the National Fire Agency announced that starting this year, for the fire damage victim support project conducted through public-private cooperation, the support processing period, which previously took up to 8 days, has been shortened to 2 days considering the urgency of supporting fire damage victims.
In addition, the number of temporary housing facilities has been expanded from 10 to 20 to enable more fire damage victims to receive prompt support, and consultations with partner organizations have been completed. Currently, temporary housing facilities for fire damage victims are operating in 4 locations in Seoul, 8 in Gyeonggi, 1 in Jeonbuk, 1 in Gwangju, 1 in Daegu, 2 in Gyeongbuk, and 2 in Busan.
Last year, through the operation of the Fire Damage Victim Support Center, the National Fire Agency supported 406 households affected by fire with home remodeling and repairs, relief funds, and temporary housing facilities.
Also, in 2020, a business agreement was signed with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation and the National Disaster Relief Association, and from 2021 to last year, a total of 86 vulnerable fire-affected households received temporary housing facilities and relief funds through the agreement support project.
Through fire damage victim support ordinances in each city and province and voluntary donations raised by firefighters, support such as home remodeling, temporary housing facilities, relief funds, and relief supplies were provided to 360 households last year.
Currently, fire damage victim support ordinances are in effect in 14 out of 17 cities and provinces nationwide, and in 56 basic local governments.
