Type 1 diabetes is an intractable disease in which immune cells attack and destroy pancreatic beta (β) cells due to immunological and environmental factors, leading to insulin deficiency. Since it is difficult to cure, careful management is required, and devices to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia are needed, which also results in medical expenses. Huons expects that this donation will improve the accessibility of diabetes management for patients who need to use CGM due to frequent blood sugar fluctuations, thereby enhancing their quality of life and reducing medical costs.
This donation was made following the urgent press conference held on the 15th by the Korea Type 1 Diabetes Association to improve the Type 1 diabetes management system, under the direction of Yoon Sung-tae, Chairman of the Huons Group.
In addition to this donation, Huons has been providing support such as offering Dexcom G6 transmitters free of charge to patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes since June of last year.
