The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 16th that the assignment results for 14 standardized general high schools in Pohang City for the 2024 academic year have been released through the online high school admission portal and the middle and high school NEIS system.
As a result of the high school assignment lottery, out of 2,696 applicants, 2,187 students (81.1% of applicants), including special education students, student-athletes, and children of national merit, were assigned to their first-choice schools.
Gyeongbuk lottery management committee members, consisting of parents, students, and teachers, are listening to an explanation before the lottery draw.

This is analyzed to be due to students applying appropriately."
In Pohang, when including second and third choices, 97% of students were assigned to their desired high schools.
The high school assignment program conducts the lottery based on an 8-digit reference number generated by combining numbers drawn individually by the assignment lottery committee members, and the entire process is recorded on video to ensure fairness in the assignment lottery.
