Suncheon City Hosts Suncheonman National Garden Cup Soccer Stove League
12 Elementary Division Teams, 5 High School and College Division Teams Participating
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that, together with the Suncheon City Football Association (President Lee Hong-tak), it will hold the 2024 Suncheonman National Garden Cup Football Stove League for 37 days from January 3 to February 8 at three locations including Palma Auxiliary Stadium.
Hosted by Suncheon City and co-organized by the Suncheon City Sports Council and the Suncheon City Football Association, this tournament saw the participation of about 420 football players from elementary and high school/university divisions nationwide.
In the elementary division, 12 teams including Suncheon Jungang Elementary and Gyeonggi Biryong Elementary will compete for 9 days from January 3 to 11, while in the high school/university division, 5 teams including Incheon Arts High School and Gyeonggi University will compete for 28 days from January 12 to February 8.
During the winter vacation period, players will train using Suncheon City's excellent football infrastructure, which is expected to enhance their performance.
Additionally, as the sports industry has a significant impact on the local economy, the city plans to continue marketing efforts to attract stove leagues and winter/summer training camps in various sports such as kendo, judo, and baseball, starting with this football stove league.
Meanwhile, last year, Suncheon City hosted over 25,000 participants in training camps across four sports including football and kendo, resulting in winning the Encouragement Award in the 2023 Jeollanam-do city and county training camp attraction performance evaluation.
