New First Vice Minister of Industry Appointed: Kang Kyung-sung, "Industry and Energy Expert"
30 Years at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy... Former 2nd Vice Minister
On the 10th, Kang Kyung-sung, the 2nd Vice Minister, was appointed as the new 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Kang, the new Vice Minister, is regarded as an expert in the industrial and energy sectors, having worked at the ministry for about 30 years.
Born in 1965, Vice Minister Kang graduated from the Capital Electric Technical High School and worked at the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power nuclear power plant operations site while attending night classes in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Ulsan University. He passed the 29th Technical Civil Service Examination in 1993 and entered public service. He later earned a master's degree in economics from Yonsei University Graduate School of Economics and a doctorate in economics from Seoul National University.
Within the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Vice Minister Kang has held key positions in the energy and industrial sectors, including Director of the Nuclear Power Industry Policy Division, Director of the Petroleum Industry Division, Director of the Trade and Investment Office, Director of the Industrial Policy Office, and Director of the Energy Resources Office.
