Kim Seong-hwan "Lee Nak-yeon's New Party, Exactly Who Is It For?"
Kim Seong-hwan, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu Eul in the general election, criticized the formation of a new party on the 10th, asking, "Who exactly is the new party founded by former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon for?"
Earlier, former leader Lee Nak-yeon had announced that he would hold a press conference on the 11th at the National Assembly to declare his departure from the Democratic Party and the establishment of a new party.
In response, candidate Kim said, "Lee Nak-yeon's claim that the immune system called intra-party democracy is broken is incorrect," adding, "It is merely a shallow ploy to create a justification favorable to himself."
Candidate Kim continued, "Moreover, Lee's statement in an interview with Ulsan Broadcasting on the 8th that 44% of Democratic Party lawmakers have criminal records is like spitting into the well called the Democratic Party," and said, "It is not something for someone who has only walked a flower path to say to comrades who have criminal records from participating in democratization and labor movements."
Kim said, "The 2024 general election will be a judgment on the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and an election to revive the economy and people's livelihoods, as well as a turning point in the political situation," and added, "At this critical time, the formation of a new party by former leader Lee Nak-yeon and the politicians who follow him is nothing more and nothing less than a trick aimed at their own political gain rather than for the people."

Finally, candidate Kim Seong-hwan appealed to the citizens of Gwangju, saying, "In this general election, Gwangju must take the lead in delivering a stern judgment so that such tricks and opportunistic politics cannot take root," and "For a dignified and refreshing politics without such trickery, I will take the lead myself."
