Semiconductor Book Author Park Young-sun: "Hard to Survive by Fighting Alone... We Need to Establish a National Semiconductor Committee"
"Not Running for General Election... Still Have Work to Do at Harvard"
"If Nakjun Coalition Finds Common Values in Future Vision, There Is Potential"
Former Minister of SMEs and Startups Park Young-sun highly anticipated the possibility of the 'Nakjun Coalition' (a coalition between former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon and former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok) becoming a reality. Regarding the background of publishing a book on semiconductors the day before, she pointed out the problems of the Korean semiconductor industry, which has not been able to take the initiative.
On the 10th, Park appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and said, "If we find common values for a future vision, we might be able to glimpse such a possibility," adding, "I expect (the coalition) to happen."
She continued, "A year ago, in a radio interview, I already said that under the leadership of Kim Ki-hyun of the People Power Party, they would not be able to hold the general election, and that both sides would split and a new third party would emerge," adding, "Many people criticized me then, but reality always approaches like the sun rising in the east."
Park criticized, "The Democratic Party leadership is heavily criticizing former leader Lee Nak-yeon. When former leader Lee Jun-seok left the People Power Party, the leadership also criticized him a lot. But they shouldn't waste energy on such criticism." She continued, "As this hateful politics continues, aren't the people getting tired of it? The emergence of a third new party is inevitable in such an environment," adding, "We need to embrace diversity and flexibility, and since the 21st century is the digital age, the appearance of a new party is practically unavoidable."
She also predicted that the political structure, which has solidified into a two-party system with the emergence of a third zone, will change. She said, "Rather than being a huge success, it will serve as a catalyst for political upgrading," and predicted, "(In this general election) it will gain about 20 to 30 seats."
Furthermore, Park announced that she will not run in this general election. She said, "I have to return to school for now," adding, "My mission at Harvard will end by the first half of this year, and I have plans to publish the English version of my book on semiconductor sovereignty, so I need to finish that work and come back."
Meanwhile, Park published a new book titled Semiconductor Sovereign State the day before, exploring Korea's survival strategy amid the global semiconductor industry environment. She explained the background, saying, "(Semiconductors) have been my long-standing interest. Several semiconductor symposiums were held at Harvard University, but the Korean government and companies were not invited. Unfortunately, Korea and Taiwan are excluded from the new supply chain shaping the future semiconductor market. Shocked by this, I thought, 'I have to write a book about this.'"

She also advised that the Korean semiconductor industry, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, as well as academia, should come together to form a National Semiconductor Committee. She added, "If we do not respond with a National Semiconductor Committee and continue to fight individually as we do now, Korea will find it difficult to survive the semiconductor war."
