Daejeon City Selected as This Year's Regional Representative Festival, Including 'Daejeon 0 o'clock Festival'
Selected as 8 Representative Festivals of the Year Including 'Daejeon Midnight Festival'
Daejeon City Provides 250 Million KRW in City Funds to Each District for Festival Operations
Daejeon City announced on the 10th that it has selected eight representative local festivals for this year through the review of the Festival Promotion Committee.
The representative festivals were decided by the committee after reviewing last year's on-site evaluation results and this year's business plans for festivals applied by Daejeon City Hall, five autonomous districts, and affiliated organizations.
As a result, the representative festivals include ▲ Daejeon 0si Festival ▲ Daejeon Science Festival ▲ Daejeon Dong-gu DongRak Festival (Dong-gu) ▲ Daejeon Hyomunhwa Root Festival (Jung-gu) ▲ Daejeon Seo-gu Art Festival (Seo-gu) ▲ Four Seasons Yuseong Hot Springs Cultural Festival (Yuseong-gu) ▲ Yuseong Chrysanthemum Exhibition (Yuseong-gu) ▲ Daedeok Mulbit Festival (Daedeok-gu).
The selected festivals will receive 250 million KRW in city funds from each autonomous district to carry out their events.
In line with this year's tight fiscal management policy, Daejeon City secured a budget of 1.25 billion KRW and plans to equally support each autonomous district with 250 million KRW in city funds.
The equal support aims to prevent the ranking of festivals by autonomous district and to foster content differentiation and growth potential. Until now, disparities in event expenses based on the financial conditions of autonomous districts caused some districts to struggle in securing external festival competitiveness, which is another reason for promoting equal support.
