In this lecture, Professor Woo will discuss the background of the emergence of conceptual art and minimalism, as well as major artists who influenced and interacted with each other, including Carl Andre, On Kawara, Dan Flavin, Joseph Kosuth, and Sol LeWitt.
The discussion will focus on the role and contributions Lawrence Weiner made to these art historical movements, conveying his philosophy and artistic world in detail.
This lecture is expected to be a great opportunity to broaden understanding of conceptual art in general and to gain a deep insight into Lawrence Weiner's 'Language Sculpture' works and his artistic world.
The large-scale retrospective, which is the first since Lawrence Weiner's passing in 2021 and the first solo exhibition in Asia, titled 'LAWRENCE WEINER: UNDER THE SUN,' will conclude on the 28th.
Those who wish to participate can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the official website of the Amorepacific Museum of Art.
