KOSPI and KOSDAQ Start Higher... Samsung Electronics Q4 Operating Profit Down 35%
Semiconductor, Battery, and IT Sectors Show Strength
On the 9th, the KOSPI and KOSDAQ started the day higher. The semiconductor, battery, and IT sectors all show a solid trend.
As of 9:26 AM on the 9th, the KOSPI is at 2,584.60, up 0.65% (16.78 points) from the previous day. The KOSPI opened at 2,598.31, up 1.19% (30.49 points) from the previous close.
Institutions alone are net buyers of 111 billion KRW, driving the index. Individuals and foreigners are net sellers of 55.8 billion KRW and 58.1 billion KRW, respectively. In the futures market, foreigners and institutions are buying 144.6 billion KRW and 50.6 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, individuals are selling 199.3 billion KRW alone.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, all are rising except Kia (-0.45%). Samsung Electronics, the largest by market cap, is up 0.26% from the previous day at 76,700 KRW. Samsung Electronics announced through a disclosure that its operating profit for Q4 last year was 2.8 trillion KRW, down 35.03% year-on-year. Sales during the same period were preliminarily estimated at 67 trillion KRW, down 4.91%.
SK Hynix +2.06%, LG Energy Solution +0.24%, Samsung Biologics +0.67%, POSCO Holdings +0.11%, Hyundai Motor +0.11%, NAVER +2.65% are also on the rise.
As of 9:32 AM, the KOSDAQ is at 889.11, up 1.11% (9.77 points) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ opened at 886.10, up 0.77% (6.76 points) from the previous close. In the early session, institutions alone showed a 'buy' trend, and currently foreigners and institutions are net buyers of 19.1 billion KRW and 50.4 billion KRW, respectively. Only individuals are net sellers of 46.9 billion KRW.
