Seongnam-si Increases Discount Rate for Disabled Taxi Vouchers to 75%
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is increasing the discount rate for taxi vouchers for people with disabilities from the previous 65% to 75%.
Seongnam City announced on the 4th that starting this year, with the end of COVID-19, the average monthly number of taxi voucher users has increased to 8,210, and after comprehensively considering the requests of the beneficiaries, the taxi voucher discount rate has been raised accordingly.
Seongnam City has allocated a budget of 612 million KRW to support this project. This is a 45% increase compared to last year's 421 million KRW.
The taxi voucher allows severely disabled people who do not use wheelchairs to use taxis registered in Seongnam City and pay with a disability welfare card (credit/debit), being charged only 25% of the fare. The remaining taxi fare is supported by Seongnam City. Support is provided up to 10,000 KRW per ride, with up to two rides per day and 40 rides per month allowed.
The number of severely disabled people who do not use wheelchairs and are eligible for support is 13,800, accounting for 38% of the total disabled population (36,000 people).
