A man in his 40s who broke into a stranger's home and sexually assaulted her on New Year's Day has been arrested. The man was wearing an electronic ankle bracelet at the time of the crime, as he was a convicted sex offender.
On the 3rd, Chief Judge Hong Ki-chan of the Seoul Eastern District Court issued an arrest warrant after a pre-arrest hearing, citing concerns that the suspect, identified as A, in his 40s and charged with special robbery and rape under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, might destroy evidence or flee.
A is accused of chasing a woman he had never met into her home in Songpa-gu, Seoul, at around 1:50 p.m. on the 1st, sexually assaulting her, and then fleeing the scene.
